The Problem With Green Smoothies

We’ve been getting great feedback from people receiving our ‘Smoothie a Day‘ emails. Everyone loves getting new ideas for delicious smoothies every day. It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut.

So Tim said to me, “why not make a smoothie every day and post a photo of it to Instagram?”

Houston we have a problem.

38917270_sYou see, Green smoothies are an awesome and tasty way of getting lots of great nutrients into your body. But, they don’t always look that appetising!

It would be wonderful if they were a lovely vibrant green every time.

Think back to your first ever art lesson about mixing colours and you’ll know why.

Add a couple of strawberries or raspberries to your green smoothie and get, well, a muddy brown!

This morning I had an EPIC smoothie. There were a few strawberries in the fridge. An overripe banana. A handful of spinach and a spoonful of yogurt left in the tub. I added a teaspoon of peanut butter and two teaspoons of Lean Greens. I then blended it all with some coconut water for consistency. It tasted DELICIOUS! But green + yellow + red = pale brown that looked a bit like dodgy baby food.

I love a good smoothie, and I don’t worry too much about the colour. But I won’t be Instagram-ing my creations everyday!
